I Will Weather...

I will weather the winter

so that I may welcome the spring;

to not surrender to circumstance

but enjoy what goodness each season may bring...

Cabin Curl - winter

High up in my mountain cabin

all tucked in with cottony snow,

curling smoke comes from my chimney

telling everyone,

I am home.

arctic pyre - winter

Pure white sugar
that has no taste,
drifting down
in front of my face.
frozen cinders flying by
fed by arctic fire,
floating here before me
from some wintry pyre;
all that separartes me
from this roaring flame
is my imagination
and flimsy window pane -
you may look
but do not touch,
dreams unravel
when you test
too much.

countenance - winter

someone who cares for your countenance

is someone that you should call "friend"

for people will pass by you every day

but seldom, if ever, attend to

emotional shadows, always shifting,

and there are very few

who tune into others and comprehend

that one has passed over you

Launch the New Year - 2011

Let us now launch
on the winds of new year
to what God enables us
now to steer,
and forward proceed
toward what He draws near;
the gift of His comfort,
His freedom from fear
and as in His great Kingdom
to dry every tear...
